Our Journey
from Permaculture to Vipassana
June 2015, Volunteering at Solitude farm in Pondicherry gave us an insight into permaculture and enabled us to appreciate the laborious efforts, extensive planning and tremendous patience required to produce organic food. Over the past few years our relationship with food and, by extension, with nature & mama earth has strengthened leading to food choices that are simple, authentic, chemical and cruelty free. Eating these foods completely changed our lives and as a result we became more mindful of our lifestyle choices. What started with the simple question of whats on our plates? translated in to the bigger question of ‘what’s on our hearts’ and mind’s’; because we truly become the foods we choose to eat.
The practice of Vipassana (insight mediation) took root in us simultaneously (under the guidance of our teacher Patrick Kearney) which enabled us to savour each moment, live our life to our truest potential, be more alive with every passing breath and most importantly be present. The meditation practise allowed us to heal from our deepest wounds and insecurities while the food helped us create bodies we felt strong and beautiful in. Food really is medicine; and we’re so excited to share this transformational journey with you; to help you achieve a happy heart-mind aka citta; free from any afflictions and be the best version of yourself!
Meet Parmita & Malvika
Raw Vegan Chefs & Certified Yogini's
Hi! Thank you for stumbling upon our page. Prana Kitchen is the offspring of our journey into wellbeing. Since it's a journey (and not a destination) it’s a constant work-in-progress which is evolving, growing, changing and maturing, along with us. In Aug 2016, we quit our respective jobs; that of a corporate lawyer and investment banker, to pursue something that truly set our hearts’ on fire. We started with a plan to open a raw vegan cafe but found ourselves wanting to explore yoga more deeply at the same time. Both of us studied yoga from the 8th std under the beautiful Ms. Sanjana who took us to Sri Ramana Maharishi’s Ashram (Tiruvanmalai), Sri Aurobindo Ashram and Matri Mandir. It is this foundation that we owe our deepest gratitude to; for sowing the seeds that have sprouted into the lifestyle we wish to share with all of you. In 2017 we undertook the Yoga Diploma Course from Kaivalyadhama to deepen our understanding of Yogic Sciences and have been practising various styles of Yoga by different gurus in Mysore, Bali, Rishikesh, Dharamshala, Kodaikanal, Pondicherry etc
Malvika is a moon child who believes that, like the moon, all of us have phases. She enjoys putting her perfectionist baking skills to test around the full moon and creating guilt free indulgences to comfort herself & her fellow LUNAtics during this generally rough phase.. cos there’s nothing (vegan) cake can’t solve. If Malvika’s Yin then Parmita’s definitely Yang.
Parmita is a sun-worshipper, intuitive (ahem do-not-follow-the-recipe) kinda chef who enjoys the natural high of eating raw food. When she had free time in college she would solar cook beautiful meals that were filled with all their natural goodness plus an extra dose of sun energy.
We’re the crazies that believe in mystical signs and the power of positive affirmations. We talk in terms of vibrations, frequencies , energy-exchange and are firm-advocates of the 7 am rise & dance cult to begin your day (to our favourite kirtan-wallah Krishna Das). If you’re our kinda crazy drop by, say hello or join the tribe!
Why Raw Vegan Food?
It's connected to
Our Philosophy - Eat the Sunshine to radiate it!
Prana is the Sanskrit word meaning life force or subtle energy. We believe that fresh, raw, plant based foods have the most energy which are transferred to us when we consume it in it’s natural, un-refined, un- processed true form. We thrive on vibrations of the Earth and believe food should be always vibrant, truly nourishing and bursting with energy. We pride ourselves on honest ingredients, consciously sourced, presented in a clean and creative way. Our philosophy is the ‘earth to table’ approach to food. At Prisim we cater to people who are interested in a raw and vegan cuisine – whether for detoxification, curiosity, taste or because they are already living this lifestyle. We incorporate Superfoods such as organic wheatgrass, spirulina, aloe vera, cacao, chia into our recipes because we believe that they are essential for increasing our immunity, giving us more energy, detoxifying our cells, hydrating our bodies and providing us with all the essential vitamins and minerals that we need. We’re striving to create a space where people can still feel the harmony with mother nature and know where their food comes from.

The world, both animate & inanimate, is sustained by food. Life arises from food : this is observed all around, there can be no doubt about it .
Taking care of them is a spiritual practise in itself. We try to respect all divine creation by adopting a lifestyle that is in harmony with nature. We take care of mama earth by using biodegradable, eco-friendly packaging & nourish our bodies' with 100% natural, wholesome, cruelty-free food. If you haven’t given compassionate living a try yet then drop by and we can help you help yourself !
